Season Seven
Season seven started tonight with this summer’s Classical Variety Night. It was a fun concert, and thanks to everyone who came out!
We’re looking forward to continuing our usual schedule of concerts in the fall. Our next concert will take place on October the 15th at 7:30 p.m. at Grosvenor Park united church. You can find more information about this concert on our Upcoming Events page.
Following this, our third concert of the year will be in February. This concert will take place in the afternoon.
Our last concert of the year happens in April. We’ll post more information as the dates for these concerts approaches.
We’re looking forward to doing one or two other special projects this season, so check back on our website or our Facebook page to find out more information about these as we announce them!
2016 Wrap up
It has been a fun season six! Our season started in July, and we’ve had a concert in October as well. Currently, we’re looking forward to our next concert, which will be happening on February the 5th. See our Upcoming Events page for more information!
Our April concert was a lot of fun. At this concert, we gave out the Saskatoon Registered Music Teacher’s student scholarship to Alex Tosh. His composition was performed at our April 10th concert. It was a lot of fun to hear his piece performed!
Currently, we’re planning our next concert. If you’re interested in performing, let us know! We love to have new performers. New volunteers are also welcome. There are lots of ways to help us keep our concerts running – poster hanging and baking are two ways. If you’re interested, please let us know.
We’re looking forward to more concerts featuring excellent local musicians. Please come check us out!
Young Composer Scholarship
We’re excited to have chosen a winner of the Saskatoon RMT Young Composer Scholarship. The winner will receive their scholarship at our April concert, where we’ll also be featuring a composition by our winner.
Thanks to the Saskatoon RMT for offering the scholarship!
Our April Concert will be on the 10th at 7:30 in the evening. The Concert takes place at Grosvenor Park United Church. Admission is by donation.

Classical Variety Night
It’s almost February, which means our next concert is coming up pretty soon. We’d love to see you in the audience!
The next concert is February the 7th at 2:30 p.m.
Venue: Grosvenor Park United Church
Admission by Donation.
This concert is going to feature some local ensembles as well as soloists. We’re looking forward to seeing The Newman Sounds, Molto Cellissimo as well as a number of soloists. Come enjoy seeing local performers playing music they love!

Fundraiser silent auction.
Item for auction: 2 tickets to a Symphony Orchestra concert in the 2015/16 season (voucher may be redeemed for any Symphony concert between September to December).
The money raised by this fundraiser will be go to our commission project. This will be the 2nd commission by the Galliard Foundation. We look forward to continuing to support local, Saskatoon Composers.

The silent auction will be pinned to the top of our Facebook page with new bids being added as they are received (placed by time stamp)

Announcement for young composers
As part of our 5th season, we are excited to announce the Saskatoon Registered Music Teacher’s Association Young Composer scholarship.
Details:
- Any student composers in grade 12 or under is eligible and can submit their application online or through their music teacher.
- Applicants do not have to be students of an RMT.
- Applications are due by October 31st.
The winner will be featured at the April 2016 concert where the piece will be premiered. Details of the performance to be worked out with the composer.

Season four Recap
Now that we have a blog, I thought this would be a good place to review the projects we’ve been working in in past seasons.
Last year, we hosted four Classical Variety Night concerts. We enjoyed getting to work with a lot of musicians and musical ensembles, and our guests included new performers, returning musicians, small groups, and a few larger ones. It was wonderful to hear such a wide range of musical choices at each concert.
We also started a new project last year. We decided to commission a piece of music from a local composer, and this composition was featured at our February concert. We commissioned the piece Dream Sequence by Janet Gieck. We really enjoyed working with a local composer on this project, and are hoping that we’ll be able to do this again in the near future.
If you missed our concerts last season, we’ve more events planned for you to kick off our fifth season. Come check us out, and help support musicians and composers in your community!
Season 5
We’re looking forward to our upcoming Season five. We’re working hard on the opening concert of our fifth season, and you’ll have lots of good music to look forward to.
